It is with deep regret that we report the sudden death of East Midlands Branch Member John Curtis.
Johns son Dale has informed us that his father passed away suddenly on Thursday (29 Sep 2019).
John and Mary were on the last day of a 10 day cruise around Europe when John suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away apparently suddenly and painlessly.
John was an early and deeply respected member of the RAF Police Association. He will be remembered with great affection not the least for the sterling work he devoted to creating and maintaining the Associations Archives – a task we he only recently passed on to Rod Inwood.
We extend or deepest sympathy and condolences to Mary , Dale and Mark.
Rest in Peace John.
Following Johns funeral on 17 October, his son Dale sent the following message
On behalf of Mary, Mark, myself and all the Curtis Family I would like to thank all of the wonderful RAFPA members and past colleagues of Dads’ who attended his funeral on Thursday.
To be surrounded by so many distinguished ‘comrades’ whose outpouring of respect and love for a great man was an honour and a privilege.
My one regret on the day was the fact that I didn’t get chance to thank you all personally, and to have had the time to talk and reminisce with individual friends that had shared good times with Dad. I hope those of you will accept my sincere apologies.
I would also like to thank the many, many colleagues and friends who have sent messages of condolence and support since Dads’ passing. It has brought great solace to us all.
Thank you all once again for taking the time…’you did him proud’
