On 20 September 2026, the annual Battle of Britain Thanksgiving Service was held at Westminster Abbey. Several members of the Association were in attendance, together with the RAF Police Association National Standard.
For the occasion, Bill Veazey, acting as Standard Bearer, was granted permission for the National Standard to be adorned with mourning drapes in memory of Nigel Lacey, who recently passed away.
Nigel had proudly served as the Association’s National Standard Bearer for many years. This was the first occasion on which the National Standard had been paraded since his passing, and the presence of the mourning drapes provided a fitting and dignified tribute to his memory and his many years of dedicated service to the Association.
