In mid March the Association was approached by its Member Andy Davies, Wiltshire Branch. Andy has for sometime been supporting “The International Centre for Ukraine” a charity helping to raise funds through various organisations to support humanitarian aid to the Ukraine.
The charity is run by Honorary Consul Dr. Razvan Constantinescu and his team of volunteers who are securing transport for all donations made to Odessa in the Ukraine where it is then distributed by the authorities. The charity commission is registered under the number 1175369.
Andy asked if the Association would be willing to make a donation to the charity. All money donated goes towards the hire of transport to Ukraine which costs £500 per trip.

Dr. Razvan Constantinescu has informed us that with the Orthodox Easter approaching, and faced with the prospect of not having enough food to help with, they raised a personal loan of £4,000 to ensure a swift delivery of food (baby powder milk, rice and chopped tomatoes!). This was a collective decision and they as an organization have accepted that they might not be able to recover all of the money they have paid from their own pocket. Dr. Constantinescu asks people to visit their Facebook page or Website for up-to-date information of what they do, and if people like what they are doing, then please join them to make a huge difference to hundreds of families in and around Odessa.
The Association Officers have agreed to make a donation of £500 to the charity.
Dear RAFPA Chair and Members,
Just a short note of thank you to you all for your very generous donation of £500 into the From Bristol with Love for Ukraine account.
We assure you that all this money mean food for communities and families at risk of famine, in and around the City of Odessa.
Today 19 April 2022, a consignment of £4,000 worth of food has been transferred from the SellGross (Costco) outlet in the Port of Galati to the Ukrainian storage facility near the boarder with Ukraine. Tomorrow, 20 April, a Ukrainian registered lorry of the Odessa Regional Military Authority will cross into Romania, load up these supplies as well as everything else we sent previously and by the Orthodox Easter will distribute it to those mostly in need. Of these, £500 worth of food will be RAPFA’s generous gift to the People of Ukraine.
For transparency purposes, I will share the SellGross invoice with your Member Mr Andrew Davies.
With renewed thanks for your generous donation,
Humanity will prevail!
Dr Razvan Constantinescu
